The Green Challenge

In Las Vegas there was the end of a green challenge with Jack McCornack and Sharon Westcott. They were riding together in a green and yellow convertible that they built; a race where they made it from Berkeley, California to Las Vegas, Nevada with only vegetable oil. They made it in 23 1/2 hours! One of the rules was:They weren't allowed to burn any petroleum fuel. I would have thought they couldn't have made it 600 miles with only vegetable oil. The organizer of this project (Jim Mason) didn't think so either, "I'm kind of shocked that anybody made it at all." But they did in less than 24 hours!(23.6333333...)

why did you think that they would make it only 600 miles? You said "One of the rules was" what were the other rules? also 23 and 1/2 hours is not 23.6333333 hours

I think Logan was probably rounding when he said that, Kiran.
Also other things have to be factored in, how many hills? Did they have the AC on? Did they have the windows open? How many red lights and stop signs? Did they refill the veggie oil?

Logan, what was your source?

Yeah, where did your source go!?
Despite that this topic facinates me.I'm glad to see technoligy improving. Also, can we have an idea about what part of California/Nevada that goes through? Does it go into any other states as well?
