In Brazil the Petrobras oil company has found two huge pockets of oil in the Atlantic Ocean in the Tupi region, offshore. Tupi is part of a new deepwater region known as the pre-salt that may contain as much as 50 billion barrels, according to Peter Wells, oil analyst with the UK’s Neftex Petroleum Consultants. “Petrobras has something that other oil companies don’t have: oil - lots of it and they’re going to find more,” said Ricardo Kob-ayashi, an equity fund manager with UBS Pactual in Rio de Janeiro.
Although this may seem like good news, gasoline prices are still very high. Many people think that these new oil discoveries will not help to lower the price of gasoline and oil worldwide because of the very high demand for oil and energy in the United States and from developing countries like China and India. Some people want to drill for this oil now, but it will be very difficult and expensive because of the oil's location deep in the ocean floor. There is always a threat to marine life when they do that and I'd rather protect the animals. I think we need to put our "energies" into hybrid cars, alternative fuels like ethanol and technology like hydrogen power. We are going to run out of oil and gasoline one day and we need to be prepared.

Hybrid cars can be good. But not as good as you may think-there are two (most likely more) bad things.
1. Many hybrids are cheating, they have a normal tank along with the hybrid part.
2. Even though they might not be polluting,they are using unreplaceable fossil fuels.
Just thought you might like to know. In some ways they could be worse than regular cars.
There are two remarkable things but it's hard to decide which is more amazing.
How low the gas prices are (lowest in Austin has been $2.07) now
Or that we think this is low.
I suspected that gas prices would be lowered right before the election. That was proved correct
ethanol is not bad, and it does not produce as many emmitions, but it is more expensive and you need more of it to produce the same amount of power
How can Hybrids cheat? The very name "Hybrid" means that it is a combination of electric and gasoline power. Yes, they still use gasoline, but they pollute less and get you more miles to the gallon, meaning you will go farther on a tank of gas a save money at the pump. It is the best technology available currently as far as fuel efficiency is concerned.

Actually what I was trying to say was that some Hybrids pollute just as much as normal cars plus more.
