Will fluorescent light bulbs actually save the planet? The new fluorescent light bulbs sometimes have difficulties working or wear out sooner. Although fluorescent bulbs are better for the environment, they also have a down side. One San Franciscan couple — inspired by the movie "An Inconvenient Truth," — swapped the majority of their incandescent bulbs for fluorescent bulbs but instead of their electricity bills going down they just got in a mess. As the wife (Mrs. Zuercher) pulled a box of defective fluorescent bulbs from a shelf, she said,"Here's my sad collection of bulbs that didn't work,".
