Sarah Palin- Enhancing McCain's candidacy or destroying it?

Sarah Palin has done poorly since John McCain introduced her as his V.P. candidate. When she goes head to head on Thursday against Joe Biden, I wonder what she will blow next? She has upset many Republicans, some of which are switching to Barrack Obama. Between her lack of experience and silly answers on interviews, Sarah Palin is looking worse than Dan Quayle. (He is considered the least intelligent V.P. from 1988.) David Frum, a former speechwriter for President G.H. Bush said, “... Dan Quayle never in his life has performed as badly as Sarah Palin in the last month."

However, she is still drawing many women and individual voters. My question is, "Will it be enough for the win?" (I hope not!)

JZ, I agree with what you are saying and I can understand that. She is a white woman, yet not a gifted one. It seems as though se is given a note card to read and she reads it. If she doesn't have the note card well...
But she delivers her lines well, I can give her credit for that. But will she be a help to our country? That is the question we should be asking ourselves. I think McCain could have picked a better V.P.

i agree that she does deliver her lines well and she can be funny, but i don't know if that will be enough to "win" the VP tomorrow night. jz, do you have any idea the comparison in iq to prove that sarah palin is not as smart as dan qualin, though i cerainly hope that she isn't as smart i did some research and found that her iq is aprox. 125 and mccain's is 133 i cuold not find dan qualin's, so that probably means that he is smarter ;)

JZ--Your post makes some interesting arguments, but could use some more details. You say that Palin has given "silly" answers, but don't give any examples. Let your readers know what you're specifically thinking of, and then explain why you consider that to be "silly."

Great comments Elizabeth and Kiran. Elizabeth, I think you're right that the real question should be whether or not Governor Palin is qualified to be a vice president. Can you (or anyone) find a historical example of an unqualified vice president that won?

One thing to consider about the debate is the notion of expectations. The debate format that is used for presidential and vice-presidential debates does not provide for a clear winner; the point is that both candidates get a chance to place their policies and beliefs in direct opposition to the other candidate's. As a result, the main determiner of victory in one of these debates is whether the candidate met expectations. Pundits (commentators on political issues in newspapers and T.V. news) have fairly high expectations for Joseph Biden, becuase he has been a senator for a long time; Governor Palin, however, due to many of the instances that JZ pointed out, is not expected to do well. Thus, if Governor Palin does an O.K. job, and can more or less hold her own against Senator Biden, it is likely that Friday's newspapers will claim she "won" the debate. Think about that as you watch tonight; don't try to focus on who wins, but on who meets or exceeds the expectations placed on them by the media.

One final note on IQ: that number is important, but by no means the whole story of a person's intelligence. You're all special, bright children, with high IQ's, but you still need to learn emotional intelligence! Just remember that IQ is only one way, and an oft disputed way, to describe a person's intelligence.

Mr.Davidson is correct, you could have a brilliant person with a very high IQ and still not be fit to be VP. What about social relationships? Emotional intelligence? Life skills, like, integrity, responsibility, respect and many, many more?

Hey Kiran, 125 is Bush's IQ, no wonder he's a problem! As for Mr Davidson I'm mostly talking about the past. My expectation of her is low, but I hope it's not too low. Finally, Elizabeth made an excellent comment about life skills but we need to wait to find out that about Palin.
